Where in the World?

Here's an opportunity to play geographical detective! This Multi-angle Imaging Spectroradiometer (MISR) image was acquired by the instrument's vertical-viewing (nadir) camera on June 12, 2001. The swath is approximately 380 kilometers wide. Choose any reference material you like and see if you can answer these questions:

1. This collection of islands, or archipelago, is part of what country?

2. The first national park in the area was designated in 1989, and includes a large complex of sand dunes. What is the park's name?

3. The Independence Day holiday is celebrated on October 10. From whom was independence gained?

4. A tourist attraction is a 50-acre orchid garden started in 1977 by actor Raymond Burr. What is the name of the garden?

E-mail your answers by Monday, July 2, 2001 to: suggestions@mail-misr.jpl.nasa.gov.

Answers will be published on the MISR web site (http://www-misr.jpl.nasa.gov) in conjunction with the next weekly image release. The first 3 respondents not affiliated with NASA, JPL, or MISR who get all answers correct will receive a print of the image. Good luck!
