The Fawn Peak Complex Fire in northern Washington continues to grow. On July 24, the fire was estimated to be more than 58,000 acres and about 35 percent contained. This image of the blaze was captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Aqua satellite on July 23, 2003. The active fire locations are marked in red.
The high-resolution image provided above is 500 meters per pixel. The MODIS Rapid Response System provides this image at MODIS’ maximum spatial resolution of 250 meters.
