Fire fighters in northern Washington may be hoping that some of the clouds hanging over the Cascade Mountains in this Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image from July 20, 2003, bring rainfall over the Fawn Peak Complex Fire, burning near the Washington-Canada border (image center). The fire was more than 48,000 acres as of July 21, and only 35 percent contained.
The high-resolution image provided above is 500 meters per pixel. The MODIS Rapid Response System provides this image at MODIS? maximum spatial resolution of 250 meters.
