Tropical Cyclone Hary can be seen just off the southern tip of Madagascar in this true-color image taken on March 12, 2002 at 6:50 UTC by the Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS), flying aboard NASA’s Terra spacecraft. The cyclone, which came from the northeast, narrowly missed Madagascar this past weekend and instead skirted the eastern shore of the island. When this image was taken, the cyclone was packing winds of over 125 kilometers (75 miles) per hour. Currently, Tropical Cyclone Hary is south of the island and is bearing sustained winds of about 65 kilometers (40 miles) per hour.
