Since 2003, Mount Aso’s Naka-dake crater has periodically produced small explosive eruptions. In late November 2014, the volcano was producing a steady ash plume. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite acquired this image of ash blowing southeast from Aso on November 29, 2014. The volcano is located on the island of Kyushu in Japan.
