Dust hung over the deserts of southern Afghanistan and western Pakistan on September 16, 2004. The Sea-viewing Wide Field of View Sensor (SeaWiFS) captured this oblique view of the dust storm at 8:00 UTC, 1 p.m. in Karachi, Pakistan. To the right of the dust storm, a green ribbon of vegetation lines the Indus River as it runs down the length of Pakistan into the Arabian Sea.
