Fires continue to burn in New South Wales on October 23, 2002. This image was acquired by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer on the Terra satellite, and shows active fire detections marked with red dots. At the top and right side of the image, a large dust plume reaches out over Coral and Tasman Seas. The plume is coming from a dust storm in central Australia.
